BREAKING: Putin Ghosts Ukraine - Summary of the Internet – May 15, 2025
Putin RSVP’d to peace—then bailed. Trump too. Welcome to diplomacy in 2025.
Hi ! We live in an era where world leaders ghost international negotiations like they’re skipping brunch. With Trump and Putin both no-showing the first real Ukraine-Russia peace talks in three years, diplomacy has officially entered its flaky friend era. Zelenskyy still showed. Turkey hosted. The rest of us just watched the group project fall apart before it even started. |
✅ Top 3 Must-Post Trends
1. Putin and Trump Skip Ukraine Peace Talks

Putin seen hear enjoying Trump’s singing voice.
What happened:
In what was supposed to be a turning point in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, peace talks convened in Istanbul for the first time since 2022. The event had the potential to change the course of Europe’s most destructive conflict in decades. But in a stunning move, both Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump declined to attend. Putin, who actually proposed the summit, opted for a video appearance instead. Trump cited “domestic obligations.” Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy showed up in person, and the U.S. sent a delegation. While expectations have been dampened, the talks mark a rare window for dialogue after years of escalating warfare.
Why this is a post opportunity:
The absence of two major players at a global peace summit is pure content gold: high-stakes drama, geopolitical tension, and an opening for explainers, hot takes, or memes.
Post Idea:
TikTok or Instagram Reel breaking down “3 reasons Trump & Putin skipped peace talks” with dramatic background music and visuals of Istanbul.
CTA:
“What do you think: pointless talks or hopeful sign? Drop your opinion.”
2. India’s First ISS Astronaut Faces Launch Delay

Sort of Tom Cruise-ish?
What happened:
Shubhanshu Shukla was set to make history as the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station, with a launch originally scheduled for May 29. But a technical issue during final testing led to a delay—the new launch date is now June 8. This marks India’s return to spaceflight since Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 mission, and Shukla’s journey carries enormous symbolic weight for the country’s growing space program.
Why this is a post opportunity:
Moments of national pride, especially in space exploration, create viral potential through shared emotion. Even the delay can be used to educate and inspire.
Post Idea:
IG Carousel: “India’s Space Journey: From 1984 to 2025” – include astronaut photos, mission patches, and quotes from Indian scientists.
CTA:
“Tag a friend who dreams of going to space!”
3. Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Set to Star in Live ‘Wicked’ TV Special
What happened:
NBC has announced a live musical television event featuring the two leads of the hit “Wicked” movie franchise, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The televised special, slated for fall 2025, will showcase performances from both parts of the upcoming film adaptation and include exclusive sneak peeks, guest performers, and musical surprises. The announcement dropped during NBC’s Upfront event and has already ignited fan communities across the internet.
Why this is a post opportunity:
It combines nostalgia, pop music, Broadway buzz, and A-list star power—basically, a viral cocktail.
Post Idea:

CTA:

Birthday Reflections from the Editor
Today’s my birthday, so I figured I’d take a second to reflect on something a little personal.
Every morning, I wake up and sift through what’s trending on the internet—memes, news, culture shifts, weird little blips. And while that might sound like a job, for me, it’s something deeper. It’s how I’ve learned to navigate the way my brain works.
When I was younger, I didn’t understand why I couldn’t focus the way others did, or why my thoughts sometimes felt like a room full of radios all playing at once. I used to think something was wrong with me. Now, I’ve gotten used to it, I guess. Maybe even learned to lean into it.
This newsletter—this whole Summary of the Internet project—is a product of that neurodivergence. My ADHD brain sees patterns, finds connections, and (sometimes chaotically) chases what’s interesting. And that’s what I try to bring to you each day: a distilled version of the noise, turned into signal.
Anyway, thanks for being here. I’m always trying to improve this thing. I hope today’s issue gives you something to post, laugh about, or think through.
